The Dubai’s RTA has awarded the contract to Turkish firm Gunal, amounting AED500 million ($136m) for the Canal project construction of the road and bridge of the Dubai’s Canal Project.
The final decisions to give the award were made during an RTA meeting who was attended by the higher officials.
To be able to pass through to the highest area of canal by passing the Sheikh Zayed Road, the project will order to construct a bridge. The almost 3kilometers canal was extended from the Business Bay district and crossing the Sheikh Zayed Road, in between 1st Interchanges and Safa before passing across Safa Park and Al Wasl Road and terminate at the Arabian Gulf.
RTA official explained that to allow smooth traffic movement on roads that might be affected by the construction, extended lanes to the canal’s banks will be made.
The development of the project was probably completed by 2017. The RTA said that it wills inflow for almost six million passengers per years by Marine Transportation.
