The tourism capital of United Arab Emirates, Dubai is the strongest prospect to host the UAE Will Throne World Expo 2020 – New York Timesfirst world fair in the Middle East or the World Expo 2020.
US New York Times newspaper who published the said report says that the government support of UAE and the current political tensions in the other countries vying to host the prestigious event makes Dubai the most outstanding as it emerged as the front runner.
An official statement from Dubai government says that the emirate is expected to receive more than 25 million visitors and 270,000 new jobs.
Each World Expo is a catalyst for economic, cultural and social transformation and generates important legacies for the host city and nation.
Every five years, World Expos attract millions of visitors who explore and discover pavilions, exhibitions and cultural events staged by hundreds of participants including nations, international organizations and businesses.
“The fact that all of the 2020 bidders come from emerging markets is indicative of the changing landscape of international relations,” the newspaper added.
“More nations are using such global events to elbow their way onto the world stage. ‘Shanghai 2010’ is a perfect example of an expo held to show that a country is an important international player.”
