A newly released report of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) hasUAE, one of the World’s Fastest Growing Tourism Hotspot in 2013 included United Arab Emirates on the Top 10 of world’s fastest growing tourism hot spots in 2013.
UAE, together with China, Japan, Russia and Turkey reached 10.4% growth rate of international tourist arrivals in 2013, placing them as the best performing cities.
Dubai earned 17.1 % of total revenues for the first nine months of 2013 or AED15.33 billion ($4.16bn).
Meanwhile, Qatar (up 18 percent) and Kuwait (up 15 percent) were ranked about the best emerging markets for growth in outbound expenditure.
At UNWTO’s World Tourism Barometer, international tourist arrivals in 2013 raised 5% or 1,087 million arrivals.
Despite global economic challenges, international tourism results were well above expectations, with an additional 52 million international tourists travelling the world in 2013.
For 2014, UNWTO said it forecasts 4-4.5 percent growth globally. “The positive results of 2013, and the expected global economic improvement in 2014, set the scene for another positive year for international tourism. Against this backdrop, UNWTO calls upon national governments to increasingly set up national strategies that support the sector and to deliver on their commitment to fair and sustainable growth”, UNWTO secretary general said.
The UNWTO World Tourism Barometer is a regular publication of the Tourism Trends and Marketing Strategies Program of UNWTO aimed at monitoring the short-term evolution of tourism and providing the sector with relevant and timely information.
