From ranked 46 last year, the United Arab Emirates jumped 10 steps ahead making it onUAE Accelerates 10 Steps As World’s Most Peaceful Countries rank 36 in 2013 as world’s most peaceful country in Global Peace Index study (GPI).
The GPI measures peace in 162 countries according to 22 qualitative and quantitative indicators of the absence of violence and fear of violence
Qatar, the highest placer in GCC countries ranked at 19.
The 7th edition of the study was launched last June 11, 2013 and reported that the world has become less peaceful.
According to GPI’s methodology, world peace deteriorates at 5% over the last 6 years on a global basis.
GPI characterized the decline primarily to 59 countries enlarging their military expenditure as a percentage of GDP.
Since the 2008, 110 countries have become less peaceful, while 48 have improved their score and one of this is the UAE who made a 10 level leaps.
