For this year’s World Airport Awards, Abu Dhabi International Airport bagged the “Best Abu Dhabi International AirportsAirport in the Middle East” award at a ceremony held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Geneva.
The World Airport Awards is the most prestigious recognition of quality for airports across the world. Winners are based on the annual SKYTRAX independent airport passenger satisfaction survey. Launched in 1999, the World Airport Survey is the leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark.
Edward Plaisted, Chairman of SKYTRAX, commends Abu Dhabi International Airport for not resting on its success at last year’s awards. Once again be named as the Best Airport Middle East is a fantastic achievement.
“The quality improvements made over the last 12 months continue to place Abu Dhabi International Airport in a favorable position amongst its regional competitors, being the only airport in the Middle East ranked amongst the top 20 airports in the global survey”, Plaisted said.
Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) had a celebration yesterday for winning the 2nd “Best Airport in the Middle East” award. ““ADAC is proud of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s claiming the title of “Best Airport in the Middle East” for the second year, as it is motivating to know that our efforts and hard work are being appreciated and acknowledged”, ADAC Chairman His Excellency Ali Majed Al Mansoori said on a press release.
H.E. Mansoori also expressed his gratitude to their partners and stakeholders particularly Abu Dhabi Police and Customs for their continued support in all ADAC schemes. “ADAC would also like to extend a thank you to all passengers who took part in the survey for their positive feedback and trust in Abu Dhabi International Airport and its services”.
“ADAC is on track with its plans for the development of the Emirate’s airports infrastructure to support Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, and deliver efficient and quality services that will exceeds that of leading international airports. This accolade today adds to our accountability and commitment to deliver the iconic MTB in 2017 positioning Abu Dhabi and the UAE as the air transport hub for the region” added Al Mansoori.
Currently under way is the multi-billion dollar re-development and expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport designed to increase the overall capacity of the airport to more than 40 million passengers per year. As part of this redevelopment, a second runway and a third terminal have been completed.
