The officials of the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA) announced the incessant development of Tenger-Med as a new contract for cold logistics chain services was signed for a refrigeration unit.
This new project, led by Moroccan-Spanish-American investors with an investment of $ 10 million, provides for the establishment of a unit for refrigeration or cold storage and preservation with a capacity of 40,000 tons.
The project is said to be in its first phase extending over an area of 6,600 square meters. The eagerly awaited installation of the refrigeration unit in this area will be of crucial in facilitating the export and to make the agricultural products accessible to the U.S. market and also by allowing official agencies perform regulatory controls from Morocco.
Furthermore, Moroccan exporters, particularly those offering fruit and vegetables and seafood, will benefit from the completion of this modern structure, which will enable them to export their products around the world and according to international standards and this is due in particular to the direct connection of the port of Tanger Med to more than 140 ports in 60 countries.
The subsidiary of TMSA, Medhub is the developer of the free zone logistics in Tangier –Med Port. This area is operational since 2008, and is directly connected to the docks. Backed by the Tanger-Med port, it is dedicated to value-added logistics activities like grouping, supply and distribution across international stream. The project targets mainly three types of clients such as logistics operators, industrial operators performing logistics activities for its own account and multinational distributors.
