Dubai: The renovation of two runways at the Dubai International Airport has been carried out with minimum interruptions in flight operations because of a well-planned implementation of the convoluted project within the 80-day schedule with all the stakeholders working together with a one-team spirit.
Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and Group, and President of Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS) formed a committee comprising of all related to divisions and corporations. This group, under his management, laid an ideal programme which led to the thriving conclusion of the project in record time, keeping away from any hindrances that could have been caused during the work even as, documenting the workflow in every day information.
Mohammad Abdullah Ahli, Director General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and CEO of Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS), stated the project involved the up gradation and maintenance of the two runways in the most modern and efficient method with no involving the complete conclusion of the flight operations.
They were told that no other project of this kind has occurred in the history of civil aviation in which the runway renovations were constructed with the least possible impression on normal flight operations. DANS gives Air Traffic Control (ATC), electronic engineering and meteorology services at both Dubai International and Al Maktoum International in Dubai World Central (DWC).
