The cities of Rabat and Fez were selected to host the next Summit of the World Federation of Tourist Cities (WTCF) in 2015.
The two Moroccan cities had won 17 votes of the 50 members of the executive committee of the WTCF, ahead, in terms of votes, other cities that have a huge potential for tourism as Rome, Washington and Los Angeles. In this sense, the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), Abderrafie Zouiten, received Friday night September 5, 2014 in Beijing, the torch of the World Federation of Tourist Cities (WTCF).
M. Zouiten received the torch from the hands of the Mayor of Beijing, Wang Anshun during the closing ceremony of the annual summit of the World Federation of Tourist towns held in the Chinese capital. On this event, the DG ONMT guaranteed that Rabat and Fez will live up to this occasion, thanking the WTCF for his confidence in the Kingdom and its support for the candidacy of these two cities.
Remember, the preference of Morocco to host this international event comes after the signing of two memoranda of understanding with the WTCF and a cooperation agreement between the ONMT and Tourism Bureau in Beijing. WTCF is an international non-governmental organization nonprofit installed and founded in Beijing in 2012, and has 86 world cities among its members.
Its mission is to endorse the image of tourist destinations and to promote exchanges between them.
