The data are according to statistics released by the Tourism Observatory last week.
According to the Observatory of the tourism cites statistics from the Exchange Office, the first eight months of 2013, the tourism industry of non-residents in Morocco generated 38.8 billion dirhams, an increase of 2.1% compared to the same period last year.
Still base on the statistics, the main source markets have shown very impressive results in August with 31% in France, 33% in Spain, 48% in Germany, 23% in the UK, 38% for Italy, 41% in Belgium and 40% in the Netherlands.
For overnight stays in all major destinations in the Kingdom, they have recorded double-digit growth. The cities of Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez and Oujda-Saidia and have posted notable increases their nights (21%, 20%, 54%, 55%, 39% and 37% respectively).
On attendance rooms, the occupancy rate has improved by eleven percentage points compared to the same month last year having reached 53% in August 2013, according to the same source reported a significant 25% improvement in travel receipts in August 2013 compared to the same period last year.
During the period from January to August, the volume of arrivals at the border reached 7 million tourists, an increase of 7% compared to the same period of 2012 (4% for TES and 9% for MRE).
The two main source markets, namely France and Spain showed a rise respectively 3% and +5%. Other markets in the United showed very positive results. In fact, tourists from Germany, the UK and Italy have reported increases of 11%, 10% and 14% respectively.
Since the beginning of 2013, total nights spent in tourist accommodation establishments classified, recorded an increase of 9% compared to the same period in 2012 (11% for non-residents and tourists + 5% for residents).
During this period, the two tourist centers Marrakech and Agadir have remarkably increased by 10% and 9% respectively and accumulated alone 60% of total nights. Other destinations have also shown positive results: Casablanca (11%), Tangier (8%) and Fez (16%).
The occupancy rate for the first eight months of 2013 has increased by three percentage points compared to the same period last year. It is 43% at the end of August 2013.
