A total of five 850 megawatts wind farm are about to be constructed after Morocco releases Morocco on its $1.7 billion concluding tender for wind farmthe last and final tender which is worth $1.7 billion and it has been thoroughly pre-qualified according to ONEE.

It was last year, when the winners of the pre qualification had been announced and those groups are The Britain’s International Power and Italy’s Enel, Morocco’s royal holding company Nareva, Spain’s Acciona, France’s EDFand Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power.

They consider this as one of the biggest and the largest wind farm project in the whole world. They are expecting enhance more the power generation from wind farms to 2,000MW in 2020. The assignment comprises a wind park in Midelt, Tarfaya, Tangiers, Essaouira, and in Boujdour.

On the other hand, ONEE has not pronounced anything related to the financial aspect of the project. The ONEE is going to be the public and private partner of the Energy Investments Company and the King Hassan Fund, while Nereva Holding which is the energy arm plays a major role.
French utility GDF Suez GSZ.PA says last year that, associating with Nareva would initiate to build the largest wind farm in Africa, which can produce an output of 300 MW near Tarfaya in Morocco.

To meet the country’s needs in terms of power production, they are really pushing this through so that in time they will not have import power from Spain but rather be the source of green power fo Spain and Europe in time.
