Kingdom of Morocco’s ruler His Majesty King Mohammed VI chaired the announcement of different tourism and urban development projects for Kingdom Funded 18 Billion dirhams for Capital’s Urban and Tourism Development ProjectsRabat City worth 18 billion dirhams.

The Kingdom called the integrated development program of its capital as “City of Light Rabat, Morocco’s capital of culture”.

Projects noted for 2014-2018 are “Wessal Bouregreg” general investment and the Grand Theatre in Rabat.

“City of Lights program Rabat, Moroccan capital of culture” was prepared in accordance with Royal High Guidance to the development of the urban structure of different cities of the kingdom in a coherent and balanced view.

The five-year program will allow the city to be qualified to the ranking of the world’s major cities. The program is structured into seven main areas, such as promotion of cultural and civilization heritage of the city, the preservation of green space and of the environment, improvising access to social services and local facilities and strengthening governance.

Plan also covers the re-qualification of the urban fabric, the consolidation and modernization of transport equipment, boosting economic activity and strengthening of road infrastructure, has he said.

Projects mentioned within the framework of the “City of Light Rabat, Moroccan Capital of Culture” will be headed by a company named “Rabat Development”.

During the announcement, His Majesty King Mohammed VI signed seven agreements on the implementation of the various projects undertaken.

The ceremony was attended by the Head of Government advisers of HM the King, members of government, economic operators in the city of Rabat, representatives of local authorities and elected officials.
