From September 12 to 14, the rural town of Tadart in the province of Guercif will hold the second edition of the Festival of Folk Arts under the theme “Popular arts, memory of generations”.
This event which is initiated by the association “Issafen Guercif” in partnership with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) and the Agency for Development of the Northern Provinces is part of the promotion of tourism and events culture in the town of Tadart and the value of its socio-economic and environmental potential. According to organizers, its purpose is to encourage local cultural tourism, reviving and enhancing cultural and artistic heritage of the region and promote the popular local artists and art and Amazigh culture.
The said festival is organized with the support of the Prefecture of the province of Guercif, the Regional Council of Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate, the rural town of Tadart and several associations will manage the art shows, poetry readings, book fair, in addition to craft shows and traditional upholstery. A conference which will address themes reporting the role of Amazigh poets in preserving the collective memory and meanings of dance in the eastern region will also be on the menu for this festival, which also includes activities for children and more writing workshops of Tifinagh.
