A new attraction for Palm residents as well as its neighboring community and millions of visitors of Dubai will be built for a unique dining, shopping and walking experience.
A boardwalk is to be added along the entire length of Palm Jumeirah’s crescent by building over the breakwater rocks. The current width of the 11km path along the crescent on the man-made island will be doubled to about six meters as part of the plan. More than 20 waterfront kiosks will be installed selling food, drinks and souvenirs.
Piers will also be built at either end of the crescent, stretching 100 meters into the Arabian Sea and offering panoramic views of the sea, the Dubai skyline and the Palm Jumeirah. Glass-enclosed restaurants and cafes will feature on both piers.
During the Cityscape 2013, the Developer of this project, Nakheel, have announced the initial plans for the boardwalk as part of its goal to transform the crescent into a unique walking, shopping and dining destination. A creation a 1.5km beach along the Palm’s western trunk is included on the plans.
The tender for the construction work will be released by the second quarter of this year.
Nakheel said that the Boardwalk at Palm Jumeirah is the latest example of the innovative design and engineering projects that the country has.
