The Dubai Municipality has executed many projects to construct markets in the emirate such as Truck Market, Al Fahidi Market, Traditional Market, Fish Market and a Pet Market in Hamriyah, Deira.
These markets, initiated under the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, are anticipated to provide a big leap in the economic development of the emirate and add a number of new tourist attractions in Dubai that constantly lives in the upcoming, stated by the Director-General of Dubai Municipality, Hussein Lootah.
The municipality has performed some studies among community and patrons which came out in the implementation of a suggestion to set up a market in the neighbourhoods that accommodate technicians and workers in all areas of work that could be required by the public in their everyday life.
Soon Al Fahidi Market will open in the public which include a hyper-market and approximately 145 stores as well as foreign exchange, cafeterias, restaurants, and jewelers. The usual market has been set up on the basis of primordial and current traditional professions held by the people of the UAE.
On the other hand, the Truck Market will accommodate practically 88 units for the sale of big heavy-duty trucks. Dubai Municipality has talked with all heavy vehicle dealers in Dubai to build the market and a study was conducted concerning all the necessities, which will be unveiled at the end of 2014.
Considering the lack of sufficient space and the increasing demand for fruits, vegetables and fish, the municipality is establishing the fish and vegetable market in Hamriyah, changing the old market. The market contains all pertinent services. There would be a huge port to operate boats loaded with fish.
