According to Airports Council International (ACI), Dubai International has managed 29.4 million worldwide passengers between January 1 and August 26, up 9.1% compared to the similar period of 2013. London Heathrow has managed 26.4 million international passengers, increase 2.2%.

Dubai International and London Heathrow have been competing to be the busiest airport for international passenger traffic this 2014. On the other hand, Dubai staggered through May and July when passenger figures fell because of the 80 days of aptitude constraining runway preservation.

Dubai Airports, management and owner of Dubai International, had formerly been hesitant to assert the title when it piped ahead of London Heathrow prior this year 2014.

According to Dubai International chief executive that once they capture the first place, they completely planned to keep it and improve the number one for service.
