Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Annual 24°C campaign has been extended to reach the commercial sector and instill the significance of trimming down energy consumption to preserve natural resources.
The “Set your AC to 24°C” raise awareness and persuades consumers to implement environmentally-friendly standard of living whether they are at their home or workplaces by setting their air conditioners to 24°C, which is the optimal temperature for the human body.
Aside from the fact that this would protect the environment from the adverse effect of carbon dioxide emissions, the power consumption being reduced will enable commercial consumers to save money especially as air conditioning use up large proportion of energy in commercial properties.
In the period of 2009 to 2013, the agency managed to decrease electricity usage to approximately 1,012 GW/h, and 4.9 billion gallons of water, avoiding the discharge of 466,000 tons of carbon dioxide in the environment and assisting to save up around AED 622million. These awareness campaigns highlight DEWA’s social responsibility and its devotion to promote environmental responsiveness among all segments of society.
