The consolidated traffic volume of the overall port activity reached 22.1% or 60.1 million more tons in half a year, against 7.6% in the same period last year as stated on the economic report released by the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

According to the Department under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the good traffic behavior of the port in the first quarter of the year 2014 was kept on in the second quarter of the same year.  In this sense, the traffic of the global port activity recorded during the second quarter of 2014 is 22.5%, after a consolidation of 21 6% in the previous quarter and 10.1% a year earlier.

According to the same source, this performance was supported by the improvement in the volume of domestic traffic of 15.4%, against 19.1% in the first quarter 2014, in conjunction with the increased volume of imports by 15.7% after 23% and  exports by 14.8% after 12.6%.

At the transshipment activity, trafficking maintains its consolidated growth, an evolution of 44.9%, against 29.7% last quarter.
