UAE- based TAQA gets the nod from UK authorities to pursue the development of a field inAbu Dhabi's TAQA Won Approval to develop North Sea field the North Sea, confirms last week.
The Abu Dhabi explorer will develop the Morrone field in Block 9/23b in the central part of the North Sea expecting to start production in the third quarter of 2014, with initial production of over 3,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).
Their plan is to initially use extended-reach well testing on the field from its operated Harding platform five kilometers north of the field.
TAQA holds a 70 percent interest in Morrone, with Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited holding 30 percent.
Morrone is expected to initially produce more than 3000 barrels of oil equivalent per day with first oil set for the third quarter next year.
“Reaching this milestone so quickly is due to an intense effort by TAQA’s subsurface and wells teams, close collaboration with our partners, and a smooth transition of operatorship of the field from BP in June 2013,” TAQA’s UK Managing Director of TAQA’s said on a press statement.
