With its goal to make the country’s capital roads better, Abu Dhabi Executive CouncilAbu Dhabi, to spend more than 2 billion Dirhams for Road Development Projects approved 2 project works with an estimated budget of Dh 2.138 billion.
Last week, Abu Dhabi General Services (Musanada) already signed the two contracts with Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting Establishment, Tristar Engineering and Construction, and Abu Dhabi Salini Costruttori SPA for the 1st and 2nd phase of the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road Project.
The length of the new road is 62 km and is an extension to Mohammad bin Zayed St., from Saih Shuaib area, through Al Maha Forest to Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad). It merges with the Sweihan Road (E20). The project will be completed within a span of 30 months from the date of the commencement of work.
The approval of the projects, as well as the signing of the contracts corresponds with the celebration of UAE’s 42nd National Day commemoration.
“The signing of Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road implementation contract comes within the framework of the keen interest of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, in maintaining balanced development across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, in integration with development projects witnessed in all cities and regions”, one of the highest official in charge of the project said.
The authorities stated that the new Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road Project is one of the biggest and most significant projects in the capital as part of its goal in developing roads infrastructure in the emirate.
They added that the construction of numerous bridges earlier to protect services lines, especially gas lines which intersect with the track of the new road are also part of Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road Project.
