Kingdom of Morocco’s executive director of the National Office of Hydrocarbons andAbout 900,000 km² Discoverable Land and Sea for Morocco’s Oil and Gas Mining (ONHYM) reveals that about 900,000 km ² lands and sea perimeter of the country is available for oil and gas exploration.

The figure monster is larger than the land area of the country that is available to explorers, to discover more its likely petro-gas reserves.

In a recent interview of a Moroccan newspaper with the official, she said that Morocco has a combined area of more than 900,000 km ² basins searchable in the field of hydrocarbons.

Quoting her statement, ” the Morocco has a score of sedimentary basins onshore and various segments of the Atlantic and Mediterranean basins offshore, with 300 exploration wells, a drilling density of only 0.04 wells per 100 km ² . Compared to a global average density of 8 to 10 wells per 100 km2, we see that our country remains under-explored “.

At present, 31 international oil companies, including majors, independents and super independent, are working and operating in Morocco’s offshore and onshore, which is far from enough to explore all basins with probabilities in Morocco.

” ONHYM, follows the investment code in hydrocarbons, 25% in exploration and production operations, and continues to make efforts to encourage and intensify oil exploration of sedimentary basins Moroccan, on its own or in partnership”, she said
